The name Torridon was taken from a house in the eastern suburbs of Perth WA however there is no denying that it was influenced by the area of northwest Scotland that is known for its stunning scenery and, by geologists for the Proterozoic Torridon Sandstone.

If you search "Torridon" in Google you will be presented with 26,000 responses most of these are about mountains in Scotland one of note is particular for the snow and a crashed Lancaster bomber.
